The South Burnett’s unique arts festival, Tractor Tattoo 2012, is gaining momentum with the unveiling today of the latest way schools, community groups and artists can get involved.
South Burnett Arts Inc, with the assistance of Stanwell Corporation, is offering a $1000 first prize and two $200 runners-up prizes for the best decorated tractors.
But don’t worry, you don’t have to push that rusty old Fordson out of the shed! These tractors are small MDF cutouts that have been especially prepared to be decorated (they even come with stands, so they are self-supporting).
There are just 50 of the cut-outs available, so your group will have to act quickly if you’d like to take part in the competition.
All South Burnett not-for-profits, schools, sports clubs, arts and crafts groups etc are invited to take part. The decoration of the tractor is up to your imagination but should reflect the nature of your group.
The decorated wooden tractors will be put on display at a “Gathering of the Tractors” at the big Tractor Tattoo 2012 celebration which will be held in Kingaroy on September 15.
Their big cousin, a musical tractor being assembled especially for the Tattoo, will also be unveiled on this day and make its premiere performance.
The tractor cut-outs can be collected from the southburnett.com.au office at the South Burnett Enterprise Centre, 6 Cornish Street, Kingaroy.
There is a $20 deposit which will be fully refunded when the decorated tractor is returned.
