A planned power supply interruption to 3300 Ergon Energy customers in the South Burnett this weekend has been cancelled.

Instead the maintenance at Kingaroy zone sub-station will be done by “live line” crews. This will be the first time live line work has been done in this way by Ergon crews inside a zone sub-station.

Customers in Nanango and surrounding areas had been notified by mail of the planned outage from 5:30am to 8:15am on Sunday.

The blackout had been timed to minimise inconvenience to the community as a whole but an Ergon spokesman said it would have created challenges for dairy farmers in particular.

After further investigation, approval was granted for the work to be carried out on live lines.

The maintenance involves work on the 66kV powerlines that supply Nanango and Yarraman and will be included in the live line team’s schedule as soon as possible.

Ergon Energy has apologised to customers for any inconvenience caused by the change of plans.
