Two men charged over the alleged discovery of an illegal drug lab in Kingaroy have been remanded to re-appear in court on August 16.

Robert David Castle is charged with producing a dangerous drug and possession of items prohibited under the Drugs Misuse Act.

Castle remained in custody although police did not oppose bail. Magistrate B.D. Barrett said bail would be allowed “when you avail yourself of it”.

Defence counsel Mark Werner asked that a hearing date – or at least a hearing date mention – be set to expedite forensic testing of items connected with the charges.

Police Prosecutor Sgt Wayne Bushell agreed, saying he had been warned there could be a nine-month delay in getting laboratory results.

The second man, Troy Anthony Lette, was charged with six drug counts and four weapons offences.  He was remanded in custody to allow a review of the indictable and summary matters to determine which charges would proceed.
