Cats (The Musical) - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Musical Comedy Society will be holding their third performance of the classic Andrew Lloyd Webber musical "Cats" at the Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy at 2:00pm this afternoon. The musical tells the story of a tribe of cats called the Jellicles and the night they make what is known as "the Jellicle choice" to decide which cat will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life. Cats first opened in the West End in 1981 and Broadway the succeeding year, and as of 2014 has become the second longest-running show in Broadway history, and the fourth longest-running West End musical. Tickets for performances can be obtained in advance from Kingaroy Office Central in Haly Street, but will also be on sale at the door. Three other performances next Friday at 7:30pm; and next Saturday at 2:00pm and 7:30pm.
Hivesville Country Markets
The Hivesville Country Markets will be held at the Hivesville Sports Grounds from 7:00am to around 12:00 noon today. These family friendly monthly markets feature a variety of stalls including hot food, tea and coffee, fresh fruit and vegetables, embroidered goods and tools. There'll also be a mini auction running throughout the morning; a jumping castle and pony rides for the children; and plenty of free parking in the grounds. The South Burnett Darts Association will be holding their regular Sunday afternoon Pot Luck Doubles darts competitions from 11:00am to 4:00pm at their premises at Shed 1, 18 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. A $10 playing fee applies, but that includes a great BBQ lunch. Gymkhana - Blackbutt
- POSTPONED: A gymkhana will be held at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Hart Street, Blackbutt from 8:30am onwards this morning. More than 50 riders from South Burnett, Brisbane Valley and Bell clubs are expected to be attending, and admission for spectators is free. Note: Because of wet weather, this event has been rescheduled to September 21.
