Scots In The Bush - Boondooma Homestead
The third - and final - day of a three-day Scots In The Bush Scottish and Celtic Festival will be held at Boondooma Homestead at 8262 Mundubbera-Durong Road at Boondooma today. The Festival features Scottish pipe bands and dancers, folk singers and poets as well as Scottish food, games and more; and special guests this year include the Ishka Ceilidh Band, Celtic Psychosis, Country Kin, the Leaping Lizards, the Noosa Pipe Band, Darryl Craft, Tartan Time, Celtic Kin and the Rum City Highland Dancers, amongst others. A licensed bar will be running throughout the event and meals will be available too, as well as on-site camping and Highland games. Tickets for the full three days are $50 per head for adults (which includes a bush camping site), but you can just attend today for $10 if you prefer (children under 14 are free). More details? Ladies Extravaganza - Cloyna
Windera State School P&C will be holding a special Ladies Extravaganza at Cloyna Hall between 10:00am and 2:00pm today as a P&C fundraiser. The Extravaganza will feature lots of stalls along with party plan suppliers like Intimo, Bow Candy, Partylite Candles, Lorraine Lea Linen and others. Everyone is welcome and admission is free. Super Soccer Sunday - Murgon
After a one-week break for the Ekka long weekend, the Souuth Burnett Evolution Solar Football League will be playing a Super Soccer Sunday at the Murgon Sportsgrounds in Macalister Street, Murgon all day today. Today's games are the Elimination and Qualification Semi-Finals that will see all teams take to the fields in the run-up to this season's penultimate matches (in the Elimination Semis, losers get knocked out of the competition for the remainder of the season; in Qualification Semis, losers get a berth in the Preliminary Semis, and winners a place in the Grand Final). The action will get underway with an Elimination Semi-Final between Wests and Gunners 2nd Division at 9:00am, followed by a Qualification Semi between Nanango and Barambah's 2nd Division teams at 11:00am. After this, Barambah and Gunnettes will play a Women's Division Elimination Semi at 1:00pm, and will be followed by Nanango and Wests in a Women's Division Qualification Semi at 3:00pm. The really big action, though, will occur at 5:00pm when Gunners play Wests in an Elimination Semi for 1st Division, and then Nanango will play Barambah in the Qualification Semi at 7:00pm. A bar and canteen will be running all day, admission is free and spectators are very welcome!
Sunday Afternoon Music - Wondai
The Wondai Hotel & Cellars in Haly Street, Wondai will be holding a relaxed Sunday afternoon of live music from 11:30am onwards today. Lunch and dinner will be available in the Cellar's restaurant and pizzas will be availble on the rear deck too. More details from the Cellars on (07) 4168-5274.
Murgon RC Club Race Meeting - Murgon
The Murgon RC Club for radio-controlled cars will be holding Round 3 of their Winter Series at Angelfield Aerodrome at the end of Macalister Street, Murgon from 10:00am to 2:00pm today (drive w-a-y past the Showgrounds along the dirt road and through the gate marked "Private Property"). Competitors will be racing six gruelling 7-minute laps before the adrenalin packed finals, and there'll be a BBQ lunch and soft drinks available too. Spectators are more than welcome to come along for free, but to take part in the racing you'll need to be a PCYC member ($30 per year for an adult or $60 per family - you can join up on site today) and the fee for racing is $10. Sunday Afternoon Poker - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy RSL in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy will be hosting Sunday afternoon poker games today. Registration starts at 2:00pm and the first cards are dealt at 2:30pm. There are $150 in prizes to be won and no fees to play. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
Sunday Afternoon Darts - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Darts Association will be holding their regular Sunday afternoon Pot Luck Doubles darts competitions from 11:00am to 4:00pm at their premises at Shed 1, 18 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. A $10 playing fee applies, but that includes a great BBQ lunch. The Timbertown Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:00am until around 12:00pm today.
