Dinner With The Champions - Kingaroy
- SOLD OUT: The 2024 Dinner With The Champions - a major annual fundraiser for the South Burnett's Relay For Life effort - will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall from 5:30pm this evening (for a 6:00pm start). This year's semi-formal dress dinner will feature talks by special guests Peter Moody, Steve Renouf and Jodie Henry OAM. There'll also be an auction of great sporting memorabilia during the night, along with a big silent auction. Tickets are $120 per head and they can be booked online. Note: This dinner is fully booked out.
Goodger Farmers Market
- Kingaroy Country Meats at 207 Stuart Valley Drive in Goodger will be running a Farmers Market featuring foods, arts and crafts from 8:00am to 1:00pm this morning. This market runs on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. More details? Phone Tom on 0418-744-331
Wondai Country Markets
- The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon this morning. The markets feature stallholders selling fresh fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans. The BBQs will also be firing up from around 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts for early bargain hunters. Nanango Mini Market
- The Nanango Mini Market, which runs on the 4th Saturday of each month (except January) outside the Churchyard Opp Shop at the corner of Drayton and Burnett Streets in Nanango, will be running from 7:00am to around noon this morning. Apart from offering great bargains at great prices - ranging from plants to craft work, DVDs, bric-a-brac, glassware, books, jewellery, photographic work and mosaic art - the markets also have a $3 sausage sizzle, $1.00 soft drinks ($2 for a coke) and gold coin donation tea and coffee if you get peckish. Western Zone Championships - Kingaroy
- The Kingaroy Clay Target Club will be holding a Shootout Spectacular at their clubhouse on the Kingaroy-Cooyar Road west of Kingaroy from 9:00am today and tomorrow. Today's events will feature three competitions for the Western Zone Championships (15pr Double Rise, 50t Single Barrel and 50t Double Barrel) and spectators are very welcome. Kingaroy Men's Shed
- The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at the old Motor Pool building off Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 9:00am to around noon today. The group meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning and new members and visitors are always welcome.
Beats & Boots - Goomeri
- The Goomeri Bush Camp at 5939 Wide Bay Highway north of Goomeri's CBD will be running Beats & Boots featuring country performers Amos Pellas, Vic Pascoe and - in the evening - Tyla Rodrigues and Band from 10:00am this morning through until late tonight. - The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Christmas In July Trivia Night - Durong
- Durong South State School P&C will be holding a Christmas In July Trivia Night at Durong Hall on the Chinchilla-Wondai Road, Durong from 4:00pm until late tonight. Tables of 8 are $160 and this will include a grazing platter, a buffet dinner and a supper table. There'll also be a licensed bar and canteen in operation and everyone is welcome. However - to help plan the catering - tickets need to be booked online. Note: There are no EFTPOS facilities at Durong so bring cash.
Saturday Morning Tennis - Blackbutt

- As part of the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery's Winter Crafts Festival, the annual Quilt Trail will be running from 9:00am to 3:00pm today and 9:00am to 1:00pm tomorrow at a number of venues around the region. Christmas In July Weekend - Yarraman
- The Redlands chapter of the Patriots Motorcycle Club will be holding a Christmas In July camping weekend at Yarraman's horse sports grounds on the New England Highway west of the CBD from 10:00am to 5:00pm today and tomorrow. The event will feature live music, food trucks, motorcycle displays and more. Entry fees are $20 for day visitors or $30 for campers who'd like to stay the full weekend and everyone is welcome.
Stonehouse Open Day - Moore
- The historic Stonehouse on the D'Aguilar Highway at Moore will be holding an Open Day from 9:00am to around 3:00pm today (and a second day tomorrow). This annual Open Day will allow visitors to inspect progress on the restoration of this historic Brisbane Valley property by new owners Loretta and John Eastwood, but because parking on the site is limited access will be by bus only. Buses will be running from the Stone Rotunda off the highway in Moore to the Stonehouse and return every 20 minutes (from 8:30am to 3:30pm) and tickets are $10 (or $30 for a family of two adults any any number of children 12 years of age or below). In addition to inspecting the latest restoration works at Stonehouse, visitors can also see a horse-drawn pie cart, bush poets, heritage displays, markets and vintage cars. Everyone is welcome! The starting line is adjacent to the Roy Emerson Museum, off Bowman Road. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. Pig On A Spit Night - Maidenwell
- The Maidenwell Hotel's popular monthly Pig On A Spit Night will be running from 6:00pm until late this evening. Popular local musician Amos will be performing on the hotel's deck from 7:00pm to 11:00pm and guests can get stuck into more pork than they can poke a fork at, all served up with with roast potatoes, pumpkin, corn, peas, carrots, applesauce and gravy for $25 per head (chicken and beef options are available too) or $15 for U12s. Saturday Rugby League - Murgon
- Rugby league fans should head to the Murgon Showgrounds today, where junior games (U6s to U12s) will be played between 8:40am and 12:30pm this morning. These will be followed by this week's only A-grade game - between Murgon's Mustangs and Nanango's Stags - at 1:30pm. Gates will open in Garrick Street at 7:30am and admission is $2 for adults, rising to $5 if you come after 1:00pm. A bar will also swing into operation at 1:30pm and everyone is welcome.
Alcoholics Anonymous - Blackbutt
- Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. AA isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. AA meets in Blackbutt in the small hall next to the church at the corner of Gladys and James streets from 1:30pm to 2:30pm every Saturday, with tea and coffee provided.
