The 2012 Goomeri Pumpkin Festival may have got off to a coolish start this morning – we’ve been told there was ice on the ground – but by the time the pumpkins started rolling, the large crowd had been well and truly warmed up!
The South Burnett will be awash with activities this weekend, starting with Boonara Homestead’s 150th Anniversary on Saturday and wrapping up with the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival on Sunday.
Hopes that the South Burnett Regional Council’s borders could be expanded to include Yarraman and Goomeri were dashed by the State Government yesterday.
Pumpkin rolling only comes but once a year, but when it does everyone joins in and heads for Goomeri.
A 19-year-old man from Hidden Valley was taken by ambulance to Cherbourg Hospital for observation on Sunday afternoon after a single-vehicle accident on the Burnett Highway.
AGL Action Rescue’s Bundaberg and Maroochydore helicopters were called out to the South Burnett again this afternoon … this time to attend a two-vehicle crash on the Burnett Highway, south-east of Goomeri.
Organisers were happy with nominations for the annual Goomeri Campdraft which was held at the weekend at the Goomeri Showground.
