Three South Burnett officers were among more than 30 Queensland Police Service and community members recognised for their outstanding service, courage and dedication at the Darling Downs District Honours and Awards Ceremony in Toowoomba on Tuesday.
- Detective Sergeant Bradley Stark, from the Kingaroy CIB, received the National Emergency Medal with Bushfires 2019 Clasp. The National Emergency Medal is an operational service medal which recognises significant or sustained service to others in response to declared nationally-significant emergencies in Australia.
- Sergeant Shane Roberts, from Wondai Station, received the National Police Service Medal. This medal was established in 2010 and recognises the special status sworn police officers have because of their role protecting the community. It represents a police officer’s past and future commitment to give ethical and diligent service. A minimum of 15 years’ service is required to qualify for the National Police Service Medal.
- Senior Constable Danielle Gordon, from Murgon Station, received the Queensland Police Exemplary Conduct Medal with a Community Clasp. Senior Constable Gordon has been an integral part of the Murgon Police Station and wider Murgon community since she joined the QPS in 2005. She has dedicated her personal time to the Blue Light Association and served as an Adopt-a-Cop for over 10 years, building strong connections with the community, local schools and students. The Queensland Police Exemplary Conduct Medal may be awarded to a member of the QPS who has demonstrated exemplary conduct in a specific role or duty which enhances the professional image of the QPS far exceeding what might be reasonably expected from an efficient member of the service. The award is presented with a clasp which denotes the nature of the role or duty for which the recipient is being recognised.
Darling Downs District Officer Superintendent Kelly Hanlen said the ceremony recognised the exceptional commitment of police officers and community members who consistently go above and beyond in service to others.
“Today’s recipients represent the very best of our organisation and our community. Whether through extraordinary acts of bravery, decades of dedicated service or unwavering commitment to supporting others, each recipient has made a lasting contribution to the safety and wellbeing of Queenslanders,” Supt Hanlen said.
“Behind every medal and certificate is a story of courage, sacrifice and service.
“These honours recognise not only remarkable individual achievements, but also the values that define the Queensland Police Service—integrity, professionalism and a steadfast commitment to protecting our communities.”
