A worker was critically injured in a workplace incident at Memerambi on Thursday evening.

Emergency services were called just after 5:15pm.

The man, aged in his 60s, suffered major burns to his upper body and thighs, reportedly after a piece of equipment exploded.

There was no active fire at the scene, and firefighters were not called to the incident.

A QAS spokesperson said the man was taken by ambulance to Kingaroy Hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition.

A Workplace Health and Safety Queensland spokesperson said WHSQ had been notified and was responding to the workplace incident.

“As this is an active investigation, no further comment can be made,” the spokesperson said.
