An elderly Murgon couple who had been attending the Kingaroy Eisteddfod were assaulted at knifepoint on Wednesday evening and their vehicle stolen.
A police spokesperson said the woman and her husband, aged in their 70s, were entering their parked car in Glendon Street, Kingaroy, about 5:45pm when they were approached by two teenage boys.
One of the boys yelled at the man before the second approached the passenger side of the vehicle, produced a knife and pulled the woman from the vehicle.
She suffered minor injuries when she fell to the ground.
The two boys then drove from the scene.
The injured woman was taken to Kingaroy Hospital for treatment but was later released.
Her husband was not physically injured but both have been left severely shaken.
Later in the evening, emergency services were called to a vehicle on fire in Barambah Avenue, Cherbourg, at 11:53pm.
It is believed to have been the couple’s 2015 Holden Captiva.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has relevant information to contact police on Crime Stoppers on 1800-333-000.
