South Burnett councillor Ros Heit was presented with her Order Of Australia Medal (OAM) during an investiture ceremony at Government House in Brisbane on Tuesday.

Queensland Governor Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM pinned on the award in front of invited guests and other award recipients.

Cr Heit received her OAM for service to the community through a range of organisations, including Council, the Wondai Regional Art Gallery, the Wondai Country Running Festival, Wondai Parkrun, the South Burnett Rail Trail Users Association, Red Earth Community Foundation, the Lady Bjelke-Petersen Hospital Foundation and CROW-FM.

It was announced in the 2026 Australia Day Honours List.

Cr Heit received an Australia Day South Burnett Local Achiever Award in 2021 and a leadership award from the Queensland Rural, Regional and Remote Women’s Network in 2018.

Former South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell is due to receive his OAM, also announced in January, later this week.
