The South Burnett Pantry will be extending its service to Murgon this week to expand its support for local residents.

The Murgon Pantry will open every Thursday (starting May 21) at 10:00am in the Baptist Church Hall (94 Macalister Street) to provide food relief for anyone feeling the pressure of the cost of living (no Centrelink referral or registration is necessary).

It will stay open on Thursdays until 1:00pm, unless sold out earlier.

Initially, the Murgon Pantry will be selling $50 pre-packed trolley hampers so pre-registration online would assist, although cash will be accepted on the day (correct change would be appreciated).

Each trolley will include (no swaps): a box of cereal, 1 kg  rice, 50g pasta, 1L UHT full cream milk, sauce (approx. 500g jar), 2 x 420g tinned veg (mixed veg / corn / 4-bean mix), 425g tin of baked beans or spaghetti, 2 x 95g tins of tuna, packet of sweet biscuits, approx. 200g jar of spread (peanut butter / Vegemite / choc spread), 2 rolls of toilet paper, a bar of soap, ½ dozen eggs, a loaf of bread, 2 serves of meat/protein (eg. beef, pork, mince/sausages/chicken) and a produce box (fruit & vegetables).

Some weeks there may also be a limited number of low-cost add-on packs available for cleaning, school snacks or recipe and baking.

There will also be a barbecue and tea and coffee will be available.
