An electric vehicle charging station will be installed at the Bunya Mountains to enhance infrastructure for visitors.
Bunya Mountains Community Association Inc (BMCAI) secretary Carol Weekes said the charging station would feature two 22kW AC three-phase pole chargers, servicing two dedicated parking bays.
The project, initiated by the BMCAI in collaboration with the South Burnett Regional Council, is scheduled to be completed by October.
The charging station will be located on Bunya Avenue in front of the Bunyas motel units, providing easy access for visitors staying within the village and those passing through the area.
“The project reflects a shared commitment to supporting sustainable tourism and improving accessibility for the growing number of EV users travelling to the region,” Carol said.
“This development marks a significant step forward in future-proofing the Bunya Mountains as an environmentally conscious destination, aligning with broader efforts to reduce emissions and encourage low-impact travel.”
