The final turbine components for Stage 2 have now been delivered to the Wambo Wind Farm.
The 500MW project, jointly owned by Stanwell and Cubico Sustainable Investments, is being built in two stages.
Stage 1 – which consisted of 42 turbines – is already adding energy into the grid; Stage 2 has 41 turbines.
Stanwell CEO Michael O’Rourke said the milestone reflected the many years of hard work by everyone involved, including the joint venture’s project team and principal contractor, Vestas.
“Moving 83 turbines across Queensland is no small feat,” Mr O’Rourke said.
“It requires an incredible amount of preparation, careful route planning and close collaboration between our delivery partners, local councils and communities. I want to thank everyone for their efforts and patience to get to this milestone.
“With Stage 2 turbine deliveries now complete, construction of the remaining turbines will continue, followed by testing and commissioning.
“During this phase, turbines will undergo a rigorous series of performance and compliance tests to ensure they are operating safely, correctly and in line with regulatory requirements.”
Cubico Sustainable Investments’ David Smith thanked the local community and road users for their patience and co-operation throughout the delivery phase.
“The completion of deliveries marks a significant reduction in oversize and over-mass vehicle movements on local roads,” Mr Smith said.
“Stanwell and Cubico acknowledge the disruption this may have caused and sincerely thank our neighbours and surrounding communities for their understanding during this time.”
