South Burnett artist Tiana Justine has added another major South Burnett art prize to her trophy case … taking home the $1500 first prize in the prestigious David Bryce Rural Art Awards.

Her winning work, “David”, was announced on Saturday night at the official opening of the latest exhibition at the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery.

The Rural Art prize is awarded in memory of the late David Bryce, a well-known South Burnett artist who died in 2000.

It has been presented every two years since 2018.

This year’s awards were judged by Sunshine Coast artist Don Milner, who also led a two-day RADF-funded life drawing workshop at the gallery at the weekend.

There were 29 entries in this year’s competition, with all but a couple coming from South Burnett artists.

In 2023, Tiana won the $3000 top prize in the South Burnett Regional Council Annual Acquisitive art competition at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery with her work, “Burnett River”.
