Local Government Minister Ann Leahy has granted an extension to Gympie Regional Council to submit its 2024-25 financial statements for assessment by the Queensland Audit Office.
The GRC now has until March 30 to supply the necessary documents to the independent body which reports annually to State Parliament on the sustainability of local councils.
The delay follows the GRC’s appointment of a new auditor which meant its audit was not completed by the October 31 deadline last year.
Gympie Council was one of seven across Queensland not to supply information to the QAO before the deadline.
