Where would Nanango community groups be without support from the local Heritage Community Bank branch?
This was the question posed at the annual Heritage Nanango Community Funding (HNCF) sponsorship evening held at the Nanango Neighbourhood Centre.
HNCF distributes grants to organisations within the boundaries of the old Nanango Shire.
The amount available every year is directly linked to the deposits made at the Heritage Nanango Community Bank branch.
Since opening in 2001, more than $5 million has been distributed back into the community via grants and sponsorships.
The latest recipients were presented with certificates on Tuesday evening by branch manager Lochlan Ezzy.
Midge Thompson, from the Nanango Campdraft committee, summed up the feeling on the night.
“All the organisations represented today wouldn’t be here without the help of the Heritage community funding,” Midge said.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re a little club or a big club, they’re a major part of all of us.”
Midge said he couldn’t be happier than having Heritage as the major sponsor of the Nanango Campdraft.
“Thank you so much for all you help, not only from me but every organisation,” Midge said.
He then called for three cheers for Heritage, which was supported enthusiastically by the crowd.
Nanango community groups interested in applying for a grant can find out more by dropping into the branch on the corner of Drayton and Fitzroy streets.
