FLASHBACK: Then-Mayor Keith Campbell and Cr Ros Heit at a Wondai Region Art Gallery opening in 2018

A former South Burnett Mayor and the current Deputy Mayor have both been awarded Medals of the Order of Australia (OAMs) in the 2026 Australia Day Honours List.

Former Mayor Keith Campbell has been recognised for service to Local Government and to the community of the South Burnett.

Deputy Mayor Ros Heit has been recognised for her service to the community through a range of organisations.

Nanango State Emergency Service Group Leader Amanda Johnson has also been recognised in the 2026 Honours List.

Amanda was awarded an Emergency Services Medal (ESM) for distinguished service as a member of an Australian Emergency Service.

She has been a member of the SES for more than 16 years.

Also recognised is a former Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council administration employee.

Floyd Leedie, who lives in Brisbane, received a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the General Division for significant service to Indigenous health in Queensland.

Mr Leedie has served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Goondir Health Service since 2008, and before that was Chief Financial Officer from 2001-2007.

He was a Director of Darling Downs and West Moreton Medicare Local from 2012-2015.

Mr Leedie attended Murgon State High School and worked at Cherbourg Council in various roles from 1986 to 1994.
