The 2025 winners of Santa’s Workshop and Christmas Cottage were announced on Wednesday by organisers Mark and Nicola Pitt.
During a break in Wednesday’s Council meeting, CEO Mark Pitt stepped away from his Council duties and donned a Santa hat for the announcement.
The annual Christmas Spirit Initiative is a private project of the Pitt family.
It consists of three categories: “Santa’s Workshop” (for businesses), “Christmas Cottage” (for individual houses) and “Santa Claus Lane” (for neighbours banding together in co-operation to create a festive display).
The 2025 Santa’s Workshop winners are:
- Burning Oil Café, Nanango
- WILDBowerbird, Blackbutt
- Kingaroy RSL Club
- Prices Plus Kingaroy
- Wondai Mechanical and Roadworthy
- NB Department Store (Proston)
Trophies for these categories are sponsored by Ken Mills Toyota and the Pitts.
“The Santa’s Workshop initiative is designed to ensure the children of the South Burnett have the opportunity to celebrate Christmas and to recreate the festive displays of the large areas such as in Brisbane,” Nicola said.
The 2025 Christmas Cottage winner was Caz Dingle and Andrew Maddern’s display at 23-25 Carroll Street, Kingaroy.
The winner’s plaque will spend the next 12 months in the Kingaroy Library.
Mark said the Christmas Spirit Initiative was not about the “biggest, boldest or prettiest” lights … it was about the story, about the community spirit and the interaction with neighbours.
Nicola emphasised the aim was to give children a chance to experience the joy and wonder of Christmas.
The winner of the Santa Claus Lane category will be announced on Friday.
