South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) and Local Disaster Recovery Group (LDRG) members met recently to discuss preparations ahead of the storm season.

There have been some changes, with Mayor Kathy Duff taking over the chair of the LDMG from Cr Danita Potter on December 1; Cr Potter has moved to chair the LDRG.

“I would like to thank everyone for their support while I was in the of LDMG Chair and I would specifically like to thank the Council staff especially Donna Brown for everything she does,” Cr Potter said.

“While I am disappointed at having to step down from the LDMG Chair role due to the recent (regulatory) changes … I am looking forward to taking up the role of LDRG Chair as that was one of my first official positions when I entered Council in 2016 and I still get to work with an amazing team.”

The LDMG and LDRG meetings strengthen relationships between agencies and ensure all remain connected, co-ordinated and aligned.
