The next Kingaroy BaconFest will be held in August 2027 after a decision by the volunteer committee to make it a biennial event.

A spokesperson said the decision had been made in consultation with all committee members, naming rights sponsor SunPork Fresh Foods and other key stakeholders.

“The iconic festival has been run by a committee of passionate volunteers since inception in 2018,” the spokesperson said.

“Our committee collectively spend thousands of hours each year planning, co-ordinating and delivering the festival for the community.

“The success of this year’s event, including a new location, new events and presenting a national headline artist, has placed the festival in a positive position to plan for a very bright future.

“The economic landscape has changed over the years, as has cost-of-living pressures that affect our sponsors and valued visitors.

“The current economic climate also exposes the festival to rising costs.

“Our committee believes running BaconFest every two years is the best move forward to ensure the event remains a sustainable, quality festival for many years to come.

“Kingaroy BaconFest wishes to recognise the extraordinary dedication and effort our volunteers (both past and present) put in every year to make this event happen.

“We want to ensure that volunteers who pour their passion, energy and professional skills into this festival, can continue to be involved without fear of burn-out.

“As a recognised and extremely popular event on the Queensland festival calendar, the committee plans to keep working to deliver a quality event that the South Burnett region can be extremely proud of. Our committee loves this event and all it brings to our South Burnett community.”

NB. BaconFest has been held every year since 2018 except 2020 and 2021 when it was forced to be cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic.
