South Burnett Regional Council will be holding a public meeting in Murgon next week in the wake of the recent spike in crime in the region.

The meeting will be held at Murgon Town Hall from 6:30pm (7:00pm start) on Thursday, November 27.

A public notice from Council stated the reason was to “collate and gather data on how the current crime rate has affected the communities of Murgon, Cherbourg, Wondai and any other impacted South Burnett communities”.

“Please bring any relevant information that will assist in collating a brief to submit to State Ministers.”

Mayor Kathy Duff and local councillor Heath Sander – who is also president of the Murgon Business and Development Association – are listed as contacts for the meeting.
