October 20, 2025

Police are investigating whether a cap found on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail may be connected to missing Blackbutt man Stephen Hodgson, 66.

A photograph of the cap, which appears similar to a cap Mr Hodgson was wearing before he went missing on Saturday, appeared on social media on Monday.

It appears to have been taken on the Rail Trail between Blackbutt and Yarraman.

A police spokesperson confirmed that local police were aware of the discovery and were investigating.

Stephen Hodgson was last seen in Coulson Street, Blackbutt, about 8:20am on Saturday but has not been seen since.

Police and family hold concerns for his welfare as his disappearance is out of character.

Stephen is described as Caucasian, about 170cm tall, of slim build with grey hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing a black, button-up shirt with orange flames over the shoulders, denim shorts, thongs, an orange visor and glasses.

He also had a black shopping cart.
