Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a serious traffic crash which occurred in Esk early on Thursday morning
Police were called to a home in Middle Street about 1:30am after reports of a disturbance.
A QPS spokesperson said that as officers arrived, a vehicle sped off but crashed a short distance away.
The driver, a 28-year-old man, was airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A 27-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to Ipswich Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding both the disturbance and the crash, with oversight from the Ethical Standards Command.
