The “forest” at Forest View Residential Aged Care in Wondai is looking a lot brighter, thanks to the organisers of the annual Wondai Country Running Festival.
The group has been putting some of the profits from the event into beautifying Wondai by adding solar-powered lights to local trees.
This week it was Forest View’s turn with three trees in the grounds getting the fairy light treatment by festival volunteers.
Wondai Country Running Festival began the tree lighting project in 2022, and since then seven large trees have been lit up as well as lights strung around the Wondai Art Gallery.
Deputy Mayor Ros Heit, who is part of the committee and helped to string the latest lights, said close to $15,000 had been invested so far into the lighting project.
“We think of it as our way of giving back to Wondai and making it nice for visitors and residents,” she said.
