The 36th National Police Remembrance Day will be marked in the South Burnett on Monday (September 29) with a non-denominational service in Murgon.

The service will be held from 10:00am at the Murgon/Goomeri Uniting Church at 55 Gore Street.

The annual event rotates around the South Burnett every year, held in different towns and venues.

National Police Remembrance Day is a day to honour  officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Members of the are public are invited to attend the service.

Commemorative plaques honouring the lives of Constables Rachel McCrow and Matthew Arnold, murdered at Wieambilla in 2022, were added to the Queensland Police Service’s Southern Region memorial this week.

More than 20 officers have lost their lives on service in the Southern Region since the 1860s:
