Former Wondai resident Robert Smith, 53, drowned on Wednesday morning in a tragic boating accident on the Sunshine Coast.
About 5:20am, police were called to reports a commercial boat had overturned with five men on board at the mouth of the Mooloolah River, between Mooloolaba and Point Cartwright.
The boat washed up on Mooloolaba Beach and four people successfully made their way to shore.
One man was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and three other men were uninjured.
Mr Smith’s body was located in the water.
Investigations into the cause of the incident are continuing.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
