Kingaroy’s annual Winter Warmers event, traditionally held in the Town Hall Forecourt, moved indoors on Wednesday night to cater for a special guest.

Gold Coast comedian Mark McConville, who also holds a Masters degree in Suicidology, shared some laughs and life advice from the Town Hall stage to an appreciative audience.

Mark was brought to the region by the South Burnett Suicide Prevention Working Group to hold a series of laughter workshops for the general public as well as practitioners in the welfare sector.

The visit was also the perfect reason to hold a Winter Warmers comedy night.

Patrons enjoyed nourishing pea and ham or pumpkin soup in the Town Hall Reception Room before the comedy night began.

There was also a table filled with “winter warmers”, ie. blankets, scarves, mittens and caps which people could take away for free.
