Two men, aged 18 and 19, have been charged after the Murgon Fruit Mart was allegedly robbed at knifepoint on Wednesday.

Police will allege that just after 11:00am, the men entered the business on Macalister Street and threatened an employee with a knife and a metal tool before taking a cash register and a charity donation tin.

The two then fled along Taylor Street in a grey 2022 Mazda CX-5, allegedly stolen from an address in Perkins Street about 3:00am the same day.

The vehicle was then spotted driving around Cherbourg, with the local Council issuing an alert for residents to stay safe.

It was later found in Collins Street.

About 6:15pm, police located both men at a Bell Street, Cherbourg, address.

A police officer  was allegedly assaulted during the arrest and later received treatment for injuries to his arm and face.

An 18-year-old Cherbourg man has been charged with robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on October 7.

A 19-year-old man has been charged with five offences including robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and assault occasioning bodily harm.

He was remanded in custody and was due to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Friday.

A 23-year-old Cherbourg man – alleged to have been involved in the theft of the Mazda – has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and stealing.

He is due to appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on September 16.

The two then fled along Taylor Street in a stolen grey Mazda CX-5, prior to police arriving.

The vehicle was later spotted in Cherbourg, with the local Council issuing an alert to residents to stay safe.

Police later arrested and charged an 18-year-old man who was due to appear in Nanango Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Investigations are continuing.
