A series of upgrades have been completed at the South Burnett Regional Council’s Coolabunia Saleyards complex near Kingaroy.

A Council spokesperson said a security fence had been installed around the perimeter of the saleyards to improve security and lessen the risk of livestock escaping.

The concrete slab at the truck wash has been extended to accommodate longer vehicles.

Double loading ramps were also modified by Council’s fabrication team to meet workplace, health and safety requirements.

“Council is supporting the growth of our vital rural community by upgrading these facilities,” Mayor Kathy Duff said.

Cr Danita Potter said the saleyards were an integral part of the South Burnett and offered more than just cattle sales.

“They are a meeting place for our community to bring people together,” Cr Potter said.
