Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle traffic crash at Esk on Thursday night in which a South Burnett woman was killed.

Initial investigations indicate that about 1:30am, a Toyota Camry sedan was travelling along the Brisbane Valley Highway, near Falls Road, when it left the roadway and struck a tree.

Emergency services were called a short time later, however the driver and only occupant of the vehicle – a 36-year-old Coverty woman – was declared deceased.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash and are appealing to anyone who may have relevant information or CCTV/dashcam vision to come forward.

Emergency services were called about 11:30pm on Thursday to the Bunya Highway, south of Kumbia, after a vehicle crashed after striking a kangaroo.

Traffic on the highway was affected for a short time.

At 8:30am on Friday, a truck and a vehicle pulling a caravan collided on the Wide Bay Highway at Lower Wonga. The caravan overturned but no one was injured.
