A musical version of Disney’s animated hit movie “Frozen” is about to open in Kingaroy for a VERY limited run.
“Frozen Jr” is being put on this week by the South Burnett Musical Comedy Society’s Youth Theatre group at the Kingaroy Performing Arts Complex (in the grounds of Kingaroy State High School).
There are 40 children in the massive cast, aged from 4 to 17.
They have been practising for months but held their first dress rehearsal in full costume earlier this week.
“Frozen Jr” is a heart-warming adaptation of the Broadway musical based on the animated film written by Jennifer Lee (itself inspired by a classic 19th century fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen).
It tells of the adventures of a magical princess, Elsa, and her sister, Anna, living in a world that Elsa has accidentally turned into an eternal winter.
Their adventures include meeting a magical toy snowman, Olaf; ice harvester Kristoff and his reindeer Sven; and, of course, a handsome prince, Hans.
All the memorable songs from the hit movie, plus some more, are included in the production.
There are just four performances:
- Friday (April 11) – a special group bookings matinee performance from 11:00am-12:30pm
- Saturday (April 12) – 11:00am-12:30pm; and 4:00pm-5:30pm
- Sunday (April 13) – 1:30pm-3:00pm
Tickets are $15 per person (or $10-a-head for groups on Friday of 15 people or more) and can be booked online.
