Murgon’s Terry Blackburn has only taken up painting recently but is really enjoying it … this work is “A Splash Of Purple”

February 25, 2025

The art gallery at Murgon’s 55 Million Years Ago fossil museum officially opened its latest exhibition on Saturday afternoon.

The gallery, which fills the southern end of the complex, changes the artworks on display every two months.

Each new exhibition is launched with a special “elegant” afternoon tea, which has become a popular social occasion for museum volunteers, local residents and artists.

About 40 people attended Saturday’s launch.

The new exhibition features 54 pieces, many by local South Burnett artists, and all the artworks are available for sale.

Footnote: A new hologram exhibit was opened in the fossil museum section earlier this year. It is also well worth seeing!

Enjoying Saturday’s opening were Doug Johnson, Tash Medwin, Jan Turner, Lyn Thompson, Fiona Jaensch and Terry Blackburn
Delia Blee and Norskey Van Den Brink, from Kingaroy
Julie Berry, Janette Thorne and Madge Ramke, from Murgon

One Response to "New Exhibition Fills Murgon Gallery"

  1. A truly delightful event. Not only is the food delicious, and there is plenty of it, you get to know and mix with new people. It is a good opportunity to get a little dressed up and to have a good browse at all the fabulous paintings and photographs which are all for sale. I highly recommend attending this ‘elegant’ afternoon tea event. The volunteers who bring it all together deserve high praise.
