A $100,000 extension to the Wondai Regional Art Gallery should be completed by Easter, gallery president Elaine Madill said on Monday.

Work has already begun on the covered outdoor extension.

A grant to enable the work to be completed was promised by Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington during the lead-up to last year’s State Election.

The extension aims to improve accessibility as well as provide extra workshop space.

“The delivery of this commitment recognises the important role the Wondai Regional Art Gallery plays in the community’s cultural life and cements its reputation as a vital showcase for arts in the South Burnett region,” Arts Minister John-Paul Langbroek said.

Mrs Frecklington said the Wondai gallery was a wonderful asset for the entire South Burnett.

“It’s a fantastic space that brings people together and provides a vibrant platform for creative expression,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“As the local member, I’m very proud that the Crisafulli Government committed to this project before the election and is now delivering on that promise to the people of the South Burnett, to make the space more accessible.”
