South Burnett Regional Council is helping to collate information in regards to the recent floods to help the community to access support.

In some good news, the floods on December 9, 2024, and January 2, 2025, have been officially declared as one single event by the State Government in relation to access to assistance.

Two important surveys are being undertaken by various State Government departments in conjunction with Council:

  • Primary Producers – Primary producers affected by the recent weather events should report any damages or losses to their farm through the DPI’s Disaster Impact Survey.  The reports collected will help to determine the need for extra assistance to support the recovery of affected communities.
  • Business Survey – The newly renamed State Government Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business is collecting information from business owners affected by the storms and flooding. This data will help determine what assistance is required. Complete the survey online

Residential and not-for-profit organisations have also been invited to submit information directly to Council so the Recovery Committee can advocate on their behalf.

The following information should be forwarded by email

  • Resident’s or organisation’s name and preferred contact details
  • Briefly state how you were affected by the December 9, 2024, to January 2, 2025, rain event
  • Do you have insurance coverage, have you contacted your insurance provider and, if so, are you able to make a claim?
  • Any attempts to obtain or request of support via local channels or organisations

A Council spokesperson said the Recovery Committee was meeting again this week to report on the actions undertaken to support the rural, business, residential and community sectors.
