South Burnett Mayor Kathy Duff and councillors will be working with SES volunteers this Saturday (January 11) to fill sandbags for residents.
This follows requests from residents seeking sandbags to prepare for any future storms.
“I am pleased to see that residents are taking steps to be disaster ready and planning ahead,” Mayor Duff said.
“The community are welcome to come along and pick up sandbags or delivery may be available if prearranged.”
Mayor Duff hopes to leave about 100 extra sandbags for the SES to reserve for future events.
“I am grateful to have my fellow Councillors and volunteers already stepping up to provide assistance,” the Mayor said.
“The SES do an amazing job in our community, and they work tirelessly particularly in disasters to keep the community safe.”
Councillors will be filling sandbags between 8:00am and noon at the Kingaroy SES Depot, 5 Glendon Street.
Inquiries about sandbags can be made directly to Mayor Duff by phone 0437-020-705 or by email
