The culmination of the 2024 Christmas Food Drive was laid out for all to see on Tuesday morning in Kingaroy … 150 hampers, 100 red bags packed with goods plus 50 hams!

The annual food drive is co-ordinated by South Burnett CTC and the Bill Hull Car Centre.

Vulnerable families identified by CTC will receive 140 hampers, while 10 hampers will be distributed by pregnancy and early parenting support group, Eva’s Place.

As well as the physical donations, $1100 in cash donations were received which were used buy extra or missing items to fill the hampers.

“Witnessing the community come together to support those in need is humbling,” CTC CEO Jason Erbacher said.

“This year’s drive has been a true testament to the power of community response. It’s this spirit of solidarity that builds a stronger, more connected South Burnett, where no one is left behind.

“These contributions carry a powerful message, that the South Burnett is a community where people genuinely care for one another.

“We are deeply grateful for every donation, large and small.”

South Burnett CTC  thanked Bill Hull Car Centre for their significant efforts to make the drive a success, as well The Can Man (Paddy Weber) and Wondai Art Gallery.

They also thanked the following businesses and community partners for their contributions:

  • Aussies Pizza Kingaroy
  • Prices Plus Kingaroy
  • WholeLife Pharmacy, Kingaroy
  • The Gem Club Kingaroy
  • AMG Electrical Solutions and SB Hire and Sales

A bonus this year came from “Loads Of Love” in Toowoomba, which was alerted to the appeal by local MP Deb Frecklington.

David Bargenquast, from The Phat Wag in Murgon, volunteered to drive to Toowoomba to collect 100 bags of donations from “Loads Of Love” plus 50 half hams.
