The winners of the South Burnett’s unique Christmas Spirit competitions – organised by Council CEO Mark Pitt and his wife Nicola – were announced on Tuesday morning.
“Santa Claus Lane” recognises a street where neighbours or the local community have co-operated to decorate a stretch of the road.
It was first awarded in 2019.
“Santa’s Workshop” recognises a business in each Council Division which has created a display to allow children to experience the wonder of Christmas.
These trophies have been awarded since 2021.
The third category, introduced last year, is “Christmas Cottage” which recognises a solo residence.
This winner receives a certificate, and a plaque bearing their name is hung for 12 months in their local town library.
And the winners are …

Mark said the 2024 winner was a difficult decision to make, given the quality of the entries.
It was judged on the amount of collaboration between neighbours and their written submission
He praised the Maidenwell entry for the way it had involved the local children.
