A storm cell which hit Moffatdale on Tuesday night demolished a shed, uprooted trees and ripped roofs from buildings.

At 6:01pm, the Bureau of Meteorology issued a warning that severe thunderstorms likely to produce large hailstones and damaging winds had been detected east of Nanango and were moving northwards.

It was this cell which struck Moffatdale about 7:00pm.

The storm produced little rain but the accompanying strong winds damaged homes, farm sheds, businesses and Ergon Energy infrastructure in the Moffatdale area.

No one was reported to be injured.

A police spokesperson said SES volunteers were called out to the Moffatdale area three times between 7:00pm on Tuesday and 9:30am on Wednesday.

They were also called to Wondai to assist with the removal of a downed tree which was blocking a road.
