North Burnett Regional Council has confirmed Craig Matheson as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Mr Matheson has been serving as interim CEO since July.
An NBRC spokesperson said Mr Matheson has more than 35 years of experience in public policy, strategic leadership and corporate governance across State and local governments.
“Choosing a new CEO is a crucial decision for Council,” Mayor Les Hotz said.
“Craig Matheson’s broad experience in community development, stakeholder engagement, innovative problem-solving, and financial management uniquely qualifies him to lead our organisation.
“His proven track record in achieving successful outcomes and managing resources effectively reinforces our confidence in his ability to guide the North Burnett Region toward continued success.”
Mr Matheson’s appointment was confirmed after a selection process which included interviewing other applicants.
The NBRC has had a string of CEOs in recent years.
Former CEO Rachel Cooper left the Council in December 2021.
In May 2022, Margot Stork was appointed CEO for a four-year-term but resigned just two years later.
Anna Scott was appointed acting CEO until Mr Matheson was made interim CEO at a Special Meeting earlier this year.
Mr Matheson has previously worked at the Sunshine Coast Council as well as serving as Deputy Director-General of the Department of Local Government, Planning, Sport and Recreation.
