A morning tea was held in Cherbourg on Wednesday to welcome the new CEO of the Cherbourg Regional Aboriginal & Islander Community Controlled Health Services (better known as CRAICCHS).

It provided an opportunity for community members and representatives from other local organisations to meet the new CEO, Jessica Scott, as well as CRAICCHS directors.

CRAICCHS chair Uncle Les Stewart did the Welcome to Country and shared the history of the organisation.

Ms Scott introduced herself as a proud Narungga woman and shared her background in the industry, work in other communities and what led her to CRAICCHS.

CRAICCHS membership was also discussed.

Anyone is eligible to become a member of CRAICCHS if they are:

  • Aged 18 years or over
  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • Live in the geographic service area
  • Are not an employee or contractor to the company

Membership forms are available by contacting one of the CRAICCHS clinics, which are located in Cherbourg, Wondai and Kingaroy.

NB. CRAICCHS members support the work of the organisation, but people do not have to be members to receive health care or assistance from CRAICCHS.
