RUOK Day has been marked throughout the South Burnett to raise community awareness about holding “meaningful conversations” with friends and family members.

There was a series of events last weeks, including the annual march and community barbecue in Cherbourg as well as breakfasts or morning teas held in Proston, Murgon, Nanango and Blackbutt.

The South Burnett Suicide Prevention Working Group, in partnership with Open Minds, hosted a breakfast for more than 50 people on Friday morning at the Red Ants clubhouse in Kingaroy.

A special guest speaker was Dr Tim Driscoll, the “accidental psychologist” from the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

RUOK Community Ambassador Jo Hassan also gave talks at the Kingaroy and Nanango libraries.

Unfortunately, the weather forced the cancellation of a planned free RUOK Dessert Night which was to be hosted by Centacare in Kingaroy on Thursday night.
