Western Downs residents thinking of installing rainwater tanks have been invited to apply for rebates under a Western Downs Regional Council scheme.
Applications are now being accepted for the 2024-2025 financial year.
Cr Sam Condon said the installation of rainwater tanks was a straightforward and effective approach to enhancing resilience.
The rebate amount varies from $500 and $1000, depending on the size of tank purchased.
Residents in non-potable areas are eligible for a $2000 rebate when installing tanks with a 40,000-litre capacity or more.
The rebate applies to new tanks only and will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis.
It is available through a pre-approval process and reimbursed when proof of purchase is provided. Council will also attend the property to ensure the tank is fully installed and operational.
