Fundraising by the Proston Local Ambulance Committee could help save some of the youngest lives in the Proston community.

Following successful Mums and Bubs groups held in the town, the LAC began fundraising to buy four “Little Annies”, practise mannequins used for teaching CPR on babies and young children.

The mannequins were the focus of a health education session  held at Proston Library on Thursday morning.

The session was organised by the library,  the Proston Local Ambulance Committee, Proston QAS and Proston Community Health.

Parents and grandparents attended the session, as well as Proston LAC members and Proston QAS officers.

The LAC plans to offer training sessions with smaller numbers, using the new equipment to show the correct rate and depth of compressions.

The first trainees were enrolled on Thursday.

The LAC intends to offer the sessions to community members and groups to increase the capacity of the community to respond to emergencies.

The next Proston LAC will be held on August 28.

Anyone interested in knowing more about Proston LAC should contact president David Hunter on 0438-590-009.
