South Burnett Regional Council will give six community groups long-term leases over their grounds, providing they adhere to their upkeep and routine maintenance.
At Wednesday’s General Meeting, Councillors voted unanimously to issue leases to:
- Wondai Cricket Club
- Barambah United Football Club
- Ballogie Community Association
- Wondai Country Club
- South Burnett Gem and Fossicking Club
- Wooroolin Community Committee
The first four will be given 10-year leases, and the latter two will be given five-year leases.
At the meeting, discussion centred around Council’s options if any of the groups failed to meet their lease conditions.
Staff reassured Councillors that if that were to occur – due to a lack of volunteers or some other reason – Council could terminate the leases if required.
The terms of each lease will be negotiated with the groups by CEO Mark Pitt.
