Shirley Donohue, from Kumbia, was sharing some Christmas wishes with Santa on Saturday

July 16, 2024

It feels cold enough for snow … so that’s possibly why Father Christmas came to Kumbia on Saturday night!

Santa was a special guest at the Kumbia Hall Committee’s Christmas In July fundraising dinner in the Memorial Hall.

The get-together featured a three-course dinner prepared by J.C. Catering along with live entertainment, a licensed bar, raffles and, of course, Christmas carols.

The committee has been raising funds to restump the hall.

The “Buy A Stump” appeal has set a target of $50,000, with donations over $500 to be acknowledged on an Honour Board in the building.

So far, about $20,000 has been raised towards the project, thanks to generous donations from the local community.

A surprise on the night was a royal visit by “King Charles” and “Queen Camilla”, who dropped in to share an important health message for men about prostate cancer.
