More than 30 organisations and training providers will be taking part in the annual Burnett Careers Market at TAFE Queensland’s Kingaroy campus next Thursday (July 25).
The market – which is aimed at high school students and well as community members – will run from 8:30am to 3:00pm.
Attendees can discuss job prospects with employers and explore courses with training organisation representatives.
TAFE Queensland spokesperson Tony Kruger emphasised that everyone was welcome to attend the free event.
“The South Burnett Region is continuing to experience job growth across a range of industries — from the traditional trades, food and meat processing to hospitality,” Mr Kruger said.
“This event is a great opportunity to chat with local employers about job opportunities. You can also tour the facilities and workshops at the Kingaroy campus, meet with our experienced trainers and get involved in hands-on career activities.”
There will be information available about Fee-Free TAFE, with industry-recognised courses in high-priority areas including commercial cookery, agriculture, community services and electrotechnology.
Among the organisations participating will be the team from SunPork Fresh Foods to discuss job opportunities and serve their famous pork sliders.
Representatives from the South Burnett Regional Council will also be on hand to talk about local traineeships and careers in local government, while emergency services staff members from the Queensland Police, Fire and Ambulance Services will be available.
A new feature this year will see recruitment experts sharing their top tips during presentations, covering topics including how to create stand-out resumes and cover letters, job interview recommendations and how to apply for apprenticeships or traineeships.
The Bunnings team will be on-site cooking a free sausage sizzle for all attendees.
Whanau Kai will be selling coffee and snack foods, with every dollar raised donated to a local charity.
