South Burnett Saints AFL player James Packer – who recently represented South Queensland in an intrastate rep game – has suffered a serious injury during training.

Packer, who is the Saints’ men’s captain, suffered a suspected neck injury while training with the Saints in Kingaroy on Tuesday night.

He was taken to Kingaroy Hospital by ambulance, and later flown to hospital in Brisbane for further assessment and treatment.

Packer led the Saints in their Round 13 game against Coolaroo in Toowoomba last Saturday, and kicked one of the team’s two goals.
