Red Meat Advisory Council (RMAC) CEO Alastair James has been appointed the new CEO of producer group, Herefords Australia.

Mr James will finish up at the RMAC on August 2 and take up his new position on August 7.

He joined the RMAC in November 2021 after holding senior roles with the Australian Livestock Exporters’ Council, CropLife Australia and the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources.

This followed a career as an agronomist and farmer, and a family background in stud and commercial cattle breeding.

Mr James holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Agriculture).

The Santa Gertrudis Breeders Association has appointed former Queensland Country Life editor Brad Cooper as the association’s new general manager.

Mr Cooper will take over his role on July 22.

He replaces Chris Todd who resigned last October.
