South Burnett Regional Council has begun work on upgrading Kingaroy’s Memorial Park.

The upgrade includes a new basketball court and “warrior” course which has been supported with $250,000 in funding provided through the State Government’s Minor Infrastructure Program.

The work is scheduled to be completed in December.

“The warrior course and basketball courts will provide valuable alternatives for the older children in our community,”  Deputy Mayor Danita Potter said.

She said the State Government funding was designed to help Queenslanders get involved in sport and recreation and the project would foster this in the South Burnett.

Memorial Park will remain open during the upgrades, however Council has urged the public to take caution when using the park.

Council has apologised for any inconveniences these upgrades might cause.
